My Essential Day

My

The other night I was sharing a story on how essential oils have truly changed my life.  As a matter of fact, I cannot even recall what I did without them!  They are just everywhere now.  So I thought I would share with you how I incorporate the oils into my daily life.

 

Firstly I have a little stash of oils on my bedside table and if I need a little help in the morning getting out of bed I reach for Wild Orange.  It’s uplifting and invigorating so a great pick me up.  Spiritually and emotionally its the ‘Oil of Abundance’ – think about a huge beautiful orange tree laden with an abundance of juicy sweet oranges – now that’s a perfect way to start the day!

 

Having a shower is a great time to use an essential oil, I love to use a drop in the shower so when the hot water hits it, the smell is amazing.  My favourites range from:  Easy Air Respiratory Blend when I want a hit of something that opens up my airways, Peppermint and Citrus Bliss together for a pep up with uplift and Spearmint which is amazingly refreshing and a great cheer me up. To prolong the aroma in the shower adding a few drops to a washcloth and leaving in there is also a great option.

 

I love to use doterra’s Unscented Hand and Body Lotion.  Not only is it a beautiful lotion which is silky smooth it is also designed to use with any essential oil.  This means I can customise it every single day.  Lately I have become a bit obsessed with using Geranium.  It’s great for the skin and emotional balance and smells divine.

 

I always start my day with Balance Grounding Blend.  I use a drop on the bottom of each foot.  This blend does exactly what it says, it grounds you.  Its like a big tree hug with oils such as Spruce, Ho Wood, Frankincense, Blue Tansy and Blue Chamomile.  The support I feel emotionally from this oil is why it is my absolute favourite and one I would never be without.  Its also great in a diffuser whilst meditating or any time of the day you want some calm, peace and tranquillity!

 

I love to have a smoothie for breakfast because its quick and I know I can pack it with heaps of goodness to start my day.  I love to add a few drops of Wild Orange to mine, although any of the citrus oils would work perfectly.  Just remember to read your labels and only use essential oils that are 100% certified pure therapeutic grade.  These are so pure and potent so start with 1 drop.

 

For my children in the mornings and especially in the cooler months we use a roller blend of Fractionated Coconut Oil and On Guard Protective Blend.  On the bottom of the feet is a perfect place for application especially for children as they have more sensitive skin and the oils get into the blood stream quickly via this method.  This amazing essential oil blend is to boost immunity and the oils in this blend have been studied for their strong abilities to kill harmful bacteria, mould and viruses. I really think this oil helps our family through the winter months.  It can also be diffused into the air and used as a cleaner throughout the home.

 

The kids and I will also use Intune Focus Blend by swiping it at the back of our necks or again on the bottom of our feet (recommended for sensitive skin).  This blend helps with focus, concentration and a balanced state of mind! I think it helps with clarity and is calming also.

 

Essential oils make a beautiful non toxic and 100% natural perfumes.  Just go with the aroma you love the most or doTERRA even has a blend specifically to be used as a natural perfume. It’s called Whisper and works with your bodies chemistry to create a uniquely personal fragrance. It has a warm musky aroma which I love and as an added bonus the oils in this (Bergamot, Ylang Ylang, Patchouli, Vanilla Bean, Jasmine, Cinnamon, Labdanum, Vetiver, Sandalwood, Cocoa Bean and Rose) can also help balance hormones.

 

I will use my diffuser at various times of the day depending on how I am feeling.  There are so many blends available or you can try your own combinations.  Some of my favourites include Frankincense and Motivate (Frankincense for Cellular Health and Motivate speaks for itself), Peppermint and Wild Orange (Uplift and pep up in the afternoon), Elevation Joyful Blend (promoting joy and happiness) or Lavender Peace Calming Blend (afternoon and evening calming and wind down time). Using essential oils through something like a diffuser is an aromatic way of using the oils.  You could also drop in your hands and breathe in the oils or smell directly from the bottle.  Inhaling the aroma of the oil is a powerful way to affect memory, hormones and emotions through the olfactory system.  It is also effective for your sinuses or respiratory system.

 

Around the home the essential oils can be used in your washing, drying, dishwasher, to make non-toxic all natural cleaning sprays and more!  Searching up recipes and ways to use the essential oils around your home can save you spending a small fortune in the cleaning aisle and you will be using something that is natural with no nasty synthetic side effects! Win, win!

 

In my home, the essential oils are also used for skin irritations, falls, scrapes, cuts, stuffy noses, headaches, aches, pains and all other minor day to day issues a family finds themselves in.  I love empowering my children to reach for something natural, pure and from the earth rather than something synthetic.  Essential Oils are loved and have been embraced by the kids as much as I adore them.  It makes me super happy knowing that our trips to doctors and chemists have greatly diminished since I found these amazing oils!

 

My children have diffusers in their bedroom for night time.  My 2 sons share a bedroom and are really really hard to get to sleep!  There are plenty of options to try to help with sleep and rest but the one I like is 2 drops Frankincense, 2 drops Cedarwood and 2 drops Balance.  This combination is earthy, grounding and helps them to wind down.  Many people find a simple Lavender is good for night time or others will use some of those woody and earthy oils such as Vetiver, Roman Chamomile, Juniper Berry, Patchouli or Marjoram.

 

My boys actually love to put some Juniper Berry on the bottom of their feet at night.  Emotionally Juniper Berry is known as the ‘Oil of Night’ and assists those who fear the dark.  My boys believe it helps them not have bad dreams so has become part of their nightly ritual.

 

For my daughter who has some respiratory issues, Easy Air Respiratory Blend is the oil that we use in her diffuser. This blend has Laurel, Peppermint, Eucalyptus, Melaleuca, Lemon, Ravensara and Cardamom. This helps her have a restful sleep, clear airways and easy breathing.

 

For me on my bedside table I keep a bottle of Digestzen Digestive Blend (this is great for nausea, heartburn and any digestive complaints – perfect on hand for kids coming in to your room in the middle of the night!), Easy Air Respiratory Blend (I just love to have this close by in case I feel a cold coming on during the night) and Wild Orange ready for my morning pick me up (surprisingly Wild Orange is also great to help you get to sleep!  Go figure).

 

There are thousands of uses for these oils and these are just a few ways they are used and loved in my home.
