Pure Bliss

20160311_115442This picture above pretty much summed up my morning today and it was pure bliss.

 

Lately I have seemed to feel a bit off balanced and scattered and I know my meditation practise has gone by the wayside.  There is always so much running around to do, the kids need attention, life is busy, the house work is never finished, you know how it is!  But today I honoured the fact that I need attention.  I need to quiet my mind even if only for a few minutes and renew and replenish my soul.

 

Today I put my favourite essential oil in the diffuser… Balance.  This is the grounding blend and is perfect for emotional support and promoting a sense of relaxation and calm. It’s sweet woody aroma was like a huge hug and I literally had my head over the diffusers sweet mist soaking it in.

 

I put another essential oil on my wrists, Peace.  A blend of florals and mints that promotes feelings of peace, reassurance and contentment.  Smelling this combined with the Balance was the perfect way to support my ‘me’ time.

 

With my clear quartz crystal beside me I simply closed my eyes.  Although I had a racing mind I pushed the thoughts out of my head as they came in and simply tried to just be. Bliss. I meditated and concentrated on my breathing, I picked up my journal and wrote from the heart.  I wrote a few things that I should do today and it was way different from the ‘to do’ list I left sitting on my work desk.  This list was full of things to support and inspire me, ensuring my day is fulfilling and meaningful.

 

Today I reached for my Heart and Soul Oracle Cards by Toni Carmine Salerno for some added guidance.  As I shuffled the cards, one fell out, the perfect sign this is the card for me, it read:

I come to awaken sleeping hearts.

Like a bolt of lightening from the astral world

I appear as inspiration, a dream or idea.

I fill your heart with creative light

and illuminate your mind

so that the universe and all creation

can find a space within your soul.

This is a time of dreaming big –

the possibilities are endless.

 

This is so perfect for me right now.

 

Despite loving the journey I am on right now, in the last couple of weeks I have had this inkling that there is even more I should be exploring.  Like I am missing a really important piece of life’s puzzle. I am almost there and so very close but there is a whole other side to me I have not yet unlocked, explored or tapped into.   And doesn’t that last line say it all…

 

This is a time of dreaming big –

the possibilities are endless.

I look up at the clock and it’s 11.11.  Thank you universe, I am listening, you have my attention and more importantly I know you have my back.

Guided by intuition – a sneak peak into my meditation ritual

 

IMG_1588[1]Crystals, cards, oils, candles and trinkets.  I have managed to get myself a great stash of these over the past few months.  And they all have a part to play in the way I conduct my meditation practice.

 

One of the things I have been trying to work on is recognizing and acting upon my intuition.  In the past I have always thought that I wasn’t a particularly intuitive person but I think I was always expecting a huge neon light or the like was going to guide me through life.

 

I now realize that intuition is subtle and something that I need to harness by quieting my mind and putting the intention in place to follow it. For me it is mainly a feeling I can get, yes that is what I should be doing, no that isn’t feeling right. If I am rushing around at a million miles an hour it is much more difficult for me to recognise and act on my intuition.

 

A simple way I have been practicing this skill is when I have been setting myself up for my meditation practice.  Instead of picking the oracle card deck that I first see when I glance over to them, I now take some time and think about which one will give me the answers I seek.  I do the same when choosing a crystal and the essential oil I wish to work with.

 

Sometimes I feel a strong urge to use one over the other, sometimes I can get a feeling when I touch them that this is the one I should be using today.  Subtle shifts in energy that help me decide what I will be working with for the day.

 

I know this is just a small example of using intuition but I believe it’s all about starting small and starting to trust.  Yes Trust is a big one for me this year.  Trusting myself, my intuition, the universe and the process of life.  It is no wonder I am often led to work with the Trust Essential Oil.

The oils I love to use are the Sacred Self Alchemical Oils and can be found here.

They are divine and my collection continues to grow.  The one I used today was the Trust blend but others in the range I love to use also include Self Love, Abundance, Joy, Clarity and Inspiration.

The card deck I used today was the Gaia Oracle by Toni Carmine Salerno.  The card I pulled from the deck was Achievement – Keep focused on your dream. I am loving that, what a great message for me to continue forging forward.

My Gratitude journal is from Kikki-K.  I try to write in this most days as well as using my journal to further express what I am grateful for.

The crystal is a beautiful piece of Rose Quartz. This stone is one of unconditional love that opens the heart chakra to all forms of love.  It is also used to raise self-esteem and a strong sense of self-worth.

The beginning of my spiritual journey

tree background 18 feb useOver the last 6-12 months I have really started to take notice of what I want to be doing with my life.  I have been so fortunate to leave my traditional job behind and just be a mum and take care of the home and kids.  It has been amazing and something my husband and I worked towards for many years – setting ourselves up so we could live on the one salary and be ok.

 

For the past 5 years it was the #1 goal that we worked towards.  It was the goal on the vision board, written in my purse, laminated and in the shower (yep keeping it at the forefront every day) and written throughout my diary and journals.  As terrifying as it was to leave that safety net, we knew it was exactly the right step for us.

 

And it has been magic, don’t get me wrong.  But I could no longer ignore that little voice inside that told me, I wanted more.  Not to return to a corporate position but to be more than I currently was.

 

I attended some yoga classes but the thing that really got me was the spiritual side, the relaxing part where you can just quiet your mind and surrender.  So I started to meditate.  I had always loved to listen to motivational cd’s (this would be the thing that used to get me through my long drives to and from work) so finding some guided meditations seemed like the perfect place to start.  If you search on you tube or a simple Google search you will find loads of these.  It may take some time to find the ones that really resonate with you but it is well worth the search.

 

These guided meditations were exactly what I needed to focus on and help to stop my mind chatter and calm my thoughts.  Instead of thinking I needed to sit there in complete silence I could just listen and let go.

 

Despite never even having a psychic reading before, I was always intrigued with tarot cards so I started to buy some decks and experiment with them myself.  Asking questions and writing down what the cards were telling me, plus the thoughts and feelings that were coming up for me (my intuitive thinking side).  Before I knew it my meditation practice became centering myself with deep breaths and silence, simple card readings and then picking up my journal and writing whatever was coming to me.

 

I realized that meditating really did unlock an amazing side of me.  A side that was no longer about ego or the what ifs and what nows, but a side that felt like pure love and joy.   The messages coming through were all about how I should be living my life, being grateful and showing compassion and kindness.  Even though I would like to think that is how I lived my life already, these messages were like a breath of fresh air in an otherwise busy and hectic life.

 

I now journal each and everyday.  Sometimes I think I have nothing to write but then I can sit and centre myself  and the words flow freely.  Other times I might use a prompting question and then start from there.    Here are some I use a lot and can help start your practice:

 

  • What makes you happy?
  • What are you grateful for?
  • What was the best part of your day?
  • If you could snap your fingers and life was perfect how would it be?
  • What is your ideal day like?
  • What are some of your favourite things to do?

 

Taking these questions and journaling your answers is pure magic.  It enlivens your soul and instantly transforms your state of mind to a lighter and brighter place.  It’s a form of daydreaming that gives you a permanent record.  If you are having not the best day just flicking back through your journal can be enough to instantly make you feel better.   Putting this goodness out into the universe pays huge dividends and I believe really does attract more back to you.

 

After a few short months, I have journals full of my dreams, the things I am grateful for and an idea on how I want to spend my days.  I might not be clear on the whole picture yet but I have the motivation I need to keep moving forward on my journey.

Monday message from my heart and soul

As part of my daily meditation practice, I love to journal.  After breathing and sitting in silence for a period of time I will pick up my journal, ask a question and simply write what comes to me.   During my meditation session this morning I asked:

What is the message I need to know today?

As I hurriedly journaled what came to me (see messy writing in photo above), I decided to share this message with you all.  So here is it unchanged – word for word, directly from my heart and soul. I hope there is something here you can use today.

Love, just love. Treat everyone you come across with love, respect and kindness.

 

You can learn something from every one. Maybe it is about them but it is always a lesson about yourself.

 

Someone wrongs you and your lesson may be to trust yourself as your gut was telling you this all along.

 

Someone wants to give you an amazing gift for no reason, your lesson is to accept with a grateful heart.  You will pay it forward when the time and conditions are right.

 

Someone criticizes you – learn to accept an opinion that you may not like, bless them with love and give yourself an added burst of love to build yourself up.

 

Self love is the most important of all.  You must learn to love yourself so that your love radiates from within your soul onto the souls of others.

 

This is the message for the day – love, love all, love yourself.

Permission Granted: No need for perfection here

no stopping

One of my goals this year, was to break free from my comfort zone and start this blog.  The ideas for which have been bubbling away inside for quite some time.  Starting out was scary but I managed to get those first few posts out so thought from here on I would be in the groove and things would just flow along nicely.

I was wrong.

I have been paralysed with fear.  Fear that I haven’t got the perfect thing to dish up next.  I made sure I prepared well and had blog posts ready to go but as I have gone to use them nothing has seemed right, seemed enough, seemed good enough to share. I have spent the last few days thinking about how the next thing I write has to be amazing and blow everyone away with killer content and deep soul connecting messages. Talk about piling the pressure on myself!!!

After some quiet soul searching (for me otherwise known as meditation) I decided that I need to let go of the pressure to be perfect and just keep on going.  We don’t have to produce something perfect every single time.  I am not saying to not do your best work but sometimes fear that something isn’t perfect holds us back from getting out there and just doing or being or enjoying.

Other times we are waiting for something to be ‘perfect’ before we move or take action in the direction we want to be heading.

 

“Do not wait; the time will never be ‘just right.’ Start where you stand, and work with whatever tools you may have at your command, and better tools will be found as you go along”.                                                                                               George Herbert

 

I am just loving that quote.  I may not have all the answers and some days are harder than others but I will work with what I have today and improve and grow as I go through this journey.

Is there something you have been putting off doing because the conditions are not right? Instead of striving for that perfection or waiting for a better time is there something you can do TODAY to put you on that path?   Map out some small steps you can achieve bit by bit, schedule some time in your diary to review or work on your plan.  Make a commitment to yourself that you will start or keep going and there will be

No stopping

It might not be something huge and life changing maybe you just want to show up, have a go or get started on something new and exciting.

When the little voice in your head (your inner critic) starts that self defeating chatter find ways to quiet your mind, push past the fears holding you back, forget the need for it to be perfect every time and just get out there and give it a go.  There will be mistakes and tears and wrong turns in life but let’s just forge ahead anyway.

Together let’s give ourselves permission to be imperfect, to mess up, to feel out of our depths and to not be sure about what’s coming next.

Listen to your heart – My favourite daily practice

I love to meditate.  It’s something only relatively new to me, maybe only the last 6 months.  I like to try and meditate everyday but I seem to go through ebbs and flows with it.  When I manage to do it regularly I can really feel the difference.  I am happier, I am lighter and I have more faith.

 

I mean more faith in myself.  It grounds me and brings me back to my inner self.  It allows me the space to sort out all the chatter in my mind and brings a degree of calm and peaceful emotion over me.  It separates the rubbish going around in my head from the real gems, the things I should be thinking and feeling and the actions I should be taking.

 

For me, I love to sit in my special chair, sit in silence for a while until I feel grounded, grab a deck of tarot or oracle cards and do myself a mini reading and then journal my thoughts.  The silence at the start is really my key to unlocking the details I write down later.  It never seems to be anything negative just messages of pure love and joy.  Sometimes the messages are a mini action plan of what is important to achieve but it is never soured with a negative or full of reasons why it cannot be done.

 

That’s why I find this activity so incredibly amazing and the single thing that has changed my life for the better and made so many things clear to me.

 

There are many ways to meditate and sometimes it takes practice to find the one that suits you the most.  I know some people prefer to use guided meditations or even attend group classes.  It can be as simple as sitting out in nature or just closing your eyes for a few precious moments.    It is whatever works for YOU.  Really to me I think it is about quieting the mind and focusing on my breath.  This creates a sense of calmness to me like no other and allows that mind chatter to diminish.  So what ever helps to quiet your mind and bring you back to the amazing energy that you actually are, is the perfect way to meditate for you.

 

Do you enjoy meditation and how do you do your practice?  Is it something you do on a daily basis or when you can fit it in?  I do let it slide some days but I know the days I make time for it I am a better person all round and ready to take on the days challenges with more clarity and increased enthusiasm.

 

So today is the day I pledge I will not let it slip again, today is the day I reaffirm to myself that I am worth it and this practice is one I will make the time for, I hope you will join me.
